Employment in UK
From May 1 2006 onwards, all international students on completion of a postgraduate degree, or an undergraduate degree in a shortage sector, may be allowed to work in the UK for up to 12 months. All International students while studying are entitled to work in the UK, provided the course duration is more than six months. Students can work for up to 20 hours a week (part time) during their study period and full-time during the vacations.
Health and Welfare
Students from outside UK attending a program lasting longer than six months may be entitled to free care from the National Health Services (NHS) for any medical condition that arises during their stay in the UK. However a standard charge is made for any medical prescribed.
Bank Account
All International students would need to open a bank account in the UK. To open an account, confirmation of enrolment as a student from the concerned college or university, and the student card is required.
